An Extraordinary First in 40 years collecting

Just Acquired:  Introducing a spectacular vintage Horror Movie Poster that I have spent the last 35 years searching for.  Although we have owned the half sheet and insert, this is the first one sheet we’ve discovered.  And as you can see, the breath-taking beauty doesn’t disappoint!  With the two most iconic Universal Horror Legends in cinematic history, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. 

This re-issue 1948 poster is highly prized, as there are only a few original posters from 1935 known to exist.   And many seasoned collectors agree that the artwork on this 1948 re-release is far superior then to the 1935 one sheet that sold for over $53,000.   In my opinion the 1935 graphics and artwork are not even close to this stunning 1948 re-release.   The gigantic menacing image of Boris Karloff looking down at the sinister Bela Lugosi is truly sight to behold and  an unforgettable experience.  And the 1948 re-release may be more Rare than the 1935 release one sheet! 

Condition:  An Original 100% Unrestored poster that displays signs of use. Includes minor edge wear, some fold wear, pinholes and/or pinhole, slight creases, smudges, and fold separation, small crossfold separation, minute misfolds, a few stains including tape stains, a strip of paper tape at the bottom left corner that wraps around to the verso, and subtle toning. There are several strips of paper and cellophane tape on the verso. 
That said one of the most amazing and stunning classic horror film posters we've ever encountered.   * And the new owner always has the option of having this Gem professionally linen backed and have all the minor aging related flaws fixed. 

The Titans of Terror, Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi, star in this twisted tale of a surgeon who seeks revenge for his spurned love. Very loosely based on a story by Edgar Allan Poe, Lugosi plays the mad doctor with riveting gusto and Karloff, as a doomed criminal, is Lugosi's unwilling accomplice in his gruesome tortures. This is one of the best films in the original horror series created at Universal

This was the second pairing of horror film superstars Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff following The Black Cat (1934). This classic chiller tells the story of a brilliant, but unstable neurosurgeon (Lugosi) who falls in love with one of his patients, and recruits a wanted criminal (Karloff) to kidnap her for him. While most of the Universal horror films from this period were creepy and atmospheric, this film is genuinely frightening! Both Karloff and Lugosi were at the peak of their powers in 1935, and the result is a brilliant collaboration, one that would rarely be repeated with such incredible success.
